Maasai Mara

Open grassland, big cats, and the river crossings.

The Mara is rolling savannah running south into Tanzania's Serengeti. Lion, cheetah and leopard are seen year round, and from roughly July to October the wildebeest and zebra herds move through on their annual circuit.

Game drives start at first light, when the cats are most active. Afternoons are slower and the light turns gold by five.
